Dr. Timo de Wolff, M.A.
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Hannah Markwig at the Institute of Mathematics of the Universität des Saarlandes. Recently, I finished my PhD under supervision of Thorsten Theobald at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
Here you can find my CV.

Research Interests
I am mainly interested in algebraical, geometrical, topological and computational aspects of real and complex systems of polynomial equations and their varieties. Or, summarized under one (very) generic term, I do algebraic geometry. Specifically, I am working on
Amoeba theory (dealing with complex algebraic varieties under norm constraints),
Nonnegativity of real polynomials and sums of squares.
These topics have natural connections to and use methods from a couple of other fields in math, which I am also interested in and working on. Particularly,
 Discrete and algorithmic geometry,
 (Semidefinite and Polynomial) Optimization,
 Tropical geometry.
