  • The eleventh exercise sheet is online. Due date: Tuesday, July 2nd.
  • You can use this Macaulay2 script to play around with the Big Prime Version of the factorisation algorithm.
  • Important: There will be no lecture in the week from July 8th to July 12th.
  • Important: The exams will take place on Friday, July 19th, Monday, July 22nd and Tuesday, July 23rd. You should consult with Prof. Schreyer to find a time slot. If none of these days work for you, you need to arrange an individual date with Prof. Schreyer.

Calculations with univariate polynomials:

Euclidean algorithm, chinese remainder, splitting fields, finite fields, fast fourier transform, factorization

Calculations with multivariate polynomials:

Gröbner bases, syzygies, elimination, Nullstellensatz, dimension, projective space, Hilbert polynomial, Segre products, secant spaces, tensors

Lectures

The lecture takes place on Tuesdays, 12:15 - 13:45 and Thursdays, 10:15 - 11:45 in lecture hall 001, building E1.3.

 

Exam

 There will be an exam at the end of the semester.

 

The exams will take place on Friday, July 19th, Monday, July 22nd and Tuesday, July 23rd. You should consult with Prof. Schreyer to find a time slot. If none of these days work for you, you need to arrange an individual date with Prof. Schreyer.

 

Exercises

There will be exercise sheets each week, for which you are required to hand in solutions in order to be admissible for the final exam. The sheets will be discussed during the weekly exercise sessions. 

The exercises take place on Fridays, 16:00 - 18:00 in SR 10, E2.4.
